- What is chiropractic care? Chiropractic care is a safe, non-invasive treatment approach that focuses on restoring optimal movement of joints in the body, particularly the spine, to decrease pain, increase function and mobility, and allow the body to heal naturally.
- What can I expect on my first visit? You will be asked to fill out a Health History form prior to your visit. On your first visit, Dr.Boucher will go through this with you to understand the reason for your visit and any current and past medical history that may be relevant. You will then betaken through a physical exam to determine a working diagnosis and treatment options will be discussed. If appropriate, you will be treated on your first visit.
- What happens during a chiropractic adjustment? During a manual adjustment your chiropractor will apply targeted high velocity, low amplitude (very fast but shallow) force to a joint. You may or may not here a“pop” noise, this is just nitrogen gas leaving the joint fluid due to a change in pressure. This is not indicative of a successful or unsuccessful adjustment.If you are uncomfortable with this, Dr. Boucher also offers instrument assisted adjusting for a gentler option.
- What other treatments can I receive? In addition to adjustments and rehabilitation exercises, Dr. Boucher also uses various soft tissue techniques to target muscles such as active release, cupping and scraping, as well as laser therapy*, ultrasound therapy, shockwave therapy, and spinal decompression*.
